A breast lift is performed to correct breast sagging, low nipple position, and to increase firmness without changing the size. This cosmetic surgery involves a rearrangement of the soft tissues, repositioning the nipple, and tightening the overlying skin. In some cases, breast lift surgery may be combined with the use of a breast implant to enlarge the breast when readjustment of the normal tissues alone will not suffice. A breast lift can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple. Who is a Good Candidate for Breast Lift Surgery?

Even though some women's breasts naturally have less form and firmness, many women lose breast elasticity and contour over time. Breast lift cosmetic surgery is usually done on women who wish to gain back that youthful look their breasts had before age and the gravity had taken their toll. Losing a significant amount of weight can also cause the breasts to stretch out and sag. Some women may be unhappy that they’ve lost a significant amount of breast volume over time for various reasons. After childbirth and nursing, breast tone and shape may change. If you're unhappy with your breasts' volume, position and contour, you could be a candidate for breast lift surgery. Breast lift surgery can work well on either larger busted or smaller busted women.

Breast Lift Surgery Facts

  • Anesthesia: Usually local with IV sedation.
  • Length of surgery: 2 to 3 hours.
  • In/Outpatient: Generally out-patient in our AAAHC accredited office surgical suite or in a hospital setting.
  • Recovery: Back to work 1 to 2 weeks. More strenuous activity: 3 to 6 weeks. Fading of scars: several months to a year.
  • Duration of Results: Usually permanent although gravity, pregnancy, aging, and weight changes may cause new sagging

Most breast lift cosmetic procedures can be performed safely on an outpatient basis in our AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care) accredited office operating room suite.
