If you suffer from hyperhidrosis, you know how embarrassing and uncomfortable excessive sweating can be. When sweat solutions such as antiperspirants refuse to work, you might consider a medical treatment called MiraDry. However, before you get the procedure done, it is best if you understand how the procedure works and what to expect after treatment.

What is MiraDry?

MiraDry is the latest method used to treat hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating. It features microwave technology to eliminate the odor and sweat glands found within your armpits. The procedure has been cleared by the FDA to treat the underarms for hyperhidrosis. The treatment is not approved for the treatment of sweating in the feet or hands.

MiraDry is not invasive compared to other hyperhidrosis treatments found on the market such as Botox. The treatment is not painful with the use of a local anesthesia. Many people will continue with their activities after the treatment and they can go back to exercising in a few days. You may have to undergo more than one treatments to get to the results you want.

What to expect from MiraDry

Keep in mind that when you suffer from hyperhidrosis, there may not be a permanent solution, however, treatments like MiraDry can help to manage it with long-term results. The results of MiraDry will be different from one person to another, however, most will see noticeable improvements after optimal treatment sessions.

MiraDry side effects

MiraDry is noninvasive, leading to minimal side effects. The common side effects of MiraDry are underarm swelling, soreness, and redness which can last some days or weeks. The irritation can be minor or you may see large lumps. Other side effects are tingling and numbness that should resolve within a few days.
