Top 5 Plastic Surgery Procedures

Go Back

According to the 2017 Plastic Surgery Statistics Report, there have been some changes in the top five surgical and non-surgical procedures in the past year. Some of these changes can be attributed to the increase in technology for non-surgical procedures. In addition to new technology in minimally invasive treatments, some classic surgical procedures are seeing unexpected increases in this year’s report.

Top 5 Plastic Surgery Procedures in 2017:

The Tummy Tuck Made a Comeback

Tummy tucks seemed to fall off the top five list in the 2016 report; however, it made its way back to the top 5 list after seeing a 2,000 procedure increase year over year. We wonder if part of this increase can be attributed to the widespread adoption of the ‘No-drain tummy tuck’. This version of the tummy tuck involves specialized sutures that hold the tissues closer together, eliminating the need for drains. This version of the procedure typically boasts a quicker recovery time, making it even more attractive to prospective patients.

Higher Rate of Breast Reductions

The reason for the increase in breast reductions is somewhat unclear; however, the benefits associated with the procedure are very clear. Breast reductions in West Bloomfield benefit the patient by addressing both cosmetic and medical concerns. Breasts that become to heavy for the patient’s frame can eventually cause back pain. A reduction can relieve these painful symptoms and improve the overall quality of life for the patient.

Kybella Treatments Continue to Increase

Kybella continues to experience major success since it’s release to the U.S. market in 2015. Kybella is an injectable treatment that contains a special acid that kills fat cells over the course of a few treatments. The initial indication was to eliminate excess fat on the chin or “double chin”. Over time, we can expect to see new applications for treatments like Kybella that extend to other common problem areas.
