What is Dermabrasion?

Dermabrasion, or mechanical skin resurfacing, involves manual exfoliation of the top layers of skin. Dermabrasion uses a specialized instrument to remove dead and damaged skin cells, unveiling new skin. The effect is to soften the sharp edges of surface irregularities commonly seen in facial acne scars, sun exposure, and fine facial wrinkles.

Usually out-patient in our accredited office operating room suite.

How is the surgery performed?

In dermabrasion, a wire brush or a diamond wheel with rough edges is used to gently remove the outer layers of the skin. This can reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles, skin discoloration, facial scars, precancerous skin patches, sun damage, enlarged pores, and other effects of aging skin. Throughout the healing process, the treated skin will become smoother, softer, and younger-looking.

What Are the Risks?

No surgical procedure is risk free, and that includes cosmetic surgery like dermabrasion surgery. During your consultation with Dr. Sabbagh or Dr. Baca, they will review the risks so you can make an educated decision.
