What to Know About the Thigh Lift
Go BackA thigh lift is a popular cosmetic procedure that is designed to improve the look of the upper inner thighs. It works by reducing the amount of excess fat and skin on the thighs with surgical techniques. While a thigh lift can give you a smoother and tighter inner thigh, it’s not a weight loss or fat reduction procedure. A thigh lift is a very safe and effective cosmetic procedure when performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Sabbagh, so here’s what to know about a thigh lift as you schedule your consultation.
Thigh Lift Preparation
In order to get your best results, you should be at a stable weight and within a healthy BMI range. It is most commonly performed on patients who have lost a significant amount of weight and have loose skin of the inner thighs. You’ll also need to be committed to living a healthy lifestyle after your surgery to avoid gaining weight and compromising your results. It’s important to quit smoking a few weeks leading up to surgery. You’ll also need to avoid taking any blood-thinning medication during this time. In order to have a successful recovery, you should prepare your home ahead of time with things like prepared meals, a designated recovery area, and arranging for child and pet care.
Thigh Lift Procedure
A thigh lift is performed under IV sedation. The procedure can be performed through an incision in the groin crease or if there is loose skin extending down towards the inner knee the incision may need to be extended down the inner thigh. Occasionally if there is still excess fat liposuction can be performed during the surgery to make the skin less heavy and then the loose excess skin is removed.
Thigh Lift Recovery
You’ll be transferred to a recovery room immediately after your thigh lift surgery is finished. Here, you’ll be monitored and our team and your companion will be given the post-op instructions. Once at home you will mostly be resting with your legs elevated however it is important to get up every hour to walk to avoid blood clots. Dr. Sabbagh or Dr. Baca will give you the best idea of when you can return to work and your regular physical activities.
Thigh Lift Results
With an active lifestyle, it’s possible to see results from your thigh lift for the long-term. You’ll begin to see your results emerge within a few weeks of surgery as your swelling and bruising subside, but it can take a few months for your final results to begin settling in. With the right approach and techniques, you can enjoy a rejuvenated lower body, and any scarring can be easily concealed in your regular clothing.
