How to Get Rid of Gynecomastia?

Go Back

While Gynecomastia is not a harmful or dangerous medical condition, it can make one feel incredibly self-conscious. Gynecomastia can be caused by a variety of factors and in most cases the treatment results are long-lasting. If you are bothered by the presence of gynecomastia and re in good health, you may want to consider scheduling a consultation at Straith Clinic.

What is Gynecomastia?

Gynecomastia is a condition in which the breasts of a male are pronounced due to unwanted fatty tissue. This condition can be caused by a variety of factors such as weight gain, medication side effects, hormonal imbalances and the use of certain drugs. This condition can often be improved by diet and exercise; however, sometimes the additional volume can be caused by additional glandular tissue along with excess skin.

How is it Treated?

Before treatment, it is important that you determine the cause of your individual case of gynecomastia. Once it has been determined to be a harmless type of gynecomastia, you may be a good candidate for surgery. Gynecomastia can be caused by either genetics, weight gain, steroids, medication and even marijuana use.

Since most cases consist of fatty tissue, liposuction is the most popular surgical method for removal. If glandular tissue or excess skin needs to be removed, the procedure would be more of a male breast reduction. Patients can expect to be released to go home the same day and will be provided with any aftercare instructions necessary for recovery.
