Male Plastic Surgery in Northville, MI is on the Rise
Go BackIn recent decades, it has become more common for men to get plastic surgery in Detroit, Michigan. In fact, it is less taboo as well, though the correlation may not be a cause. When plastic surgery first became popular, it was considered a little edgy. It was even more so for men. However, now men are going under the knife and making no bones about it. Interestingly, plastic surgery facilities have had to evolve as more men are walking through the door.
For some cosmetic surgeons, men are making up one-quarter or even more of the clientele. That means the decor is changing so it is less gender-biased. Even the reading materials in waiting rooms have to be carefully selected so as not to reflect a gender bias or ostracize men. Patient-doctor rhetoric obviously has to change a little as well, depending on the male patients.
Plastic surgeons report that women and men seek many of the same treatments in their offices. However, there are distinct difference because of anatomy and simple genetics. For example, men do not develop cellulite often, so they are less likely to seek treatment for it. Botox is often sought by men because it is quick, easy and less immediately noticeable. Breast augmentations are less likely in the male population, as biological males are most likely to get breast enhancements as part of gender reassignment surgery.
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reports that there were roughly 800,000 plastic surgeries performed on men in 2011. That is nearly 10-percent of all plastic surgeries undertaken by American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery doctors. That is an astounding 121-percent leap from 1997 to 2011. Men were likely to get facelifts, breast reduction, liposuction, eyelid surgery and rhinoplasties.
