How does Fraxel Laser work to improve the appearance of the skin?

Fraxel Laser is a non-ablative skin resurfacing laser that uses microscopic laser columns to penetrate deep into the skin in order to kickstart your body’s healing response and boost collagen production. As a result, the treatment reduces the appearance of a variety of skin concerns.

What are the main differences between Fraxel Laser and other non-ablative lasers?

Fraxel Laser treatments stand out from other non-ablative laser treatments for their ability to treat a wider range of skin concerns with higher effectiveness. In addition to being more versatile, Fraxel® Laser treatments require less downtime and fewer follow-up treatments in order to keep enjoying the results.

Can Fraxel Laser be used to treat acne scars? If so, how effective is it?

Fraxel Laser treatments absolutely can help treat acne scars. In fact, Fraxel Laser is among some of the most effective treatments for mild to medium-depth acne scars.

Is there any discomfort or pain associated with Fraxel Laser treatments and, if so, is anesthesia used?

In order to make you as comfortable as possible during treatment, a topical anesthetic and cold air are used on the skin. Most patients report a slight prickling sensation during the procedure, but they do not consider it painful at all.

Are there specific precautions or skin care routines to follow before and after Fraxel Laser treatments?

For at least two weeks before your appointment you should begin wearing a minimum of 30 SPF sunscreen and refrain from tanning and using toners and cleansers that contain retinol, witch hazel, salicylic acid, alcohol, benzoyl peroxide, and vitamin C. You should not take any steroids or anti-inflammatory drugs for at least 24 hours before your procedure. rnAfter Fraxel Laser treatment you will want to avoid the same skin care ingredients for another two weeks. Immediately following treatment, you should avoid getting hot water on the treatment area and participating in strenuous exercise. You should avoid rubbing, scratching, or touching the treatment area as well as any prolonged sun exposure. Lastly, you will not be able to do any microdermabrasion or chemical peel treatments for at least 4 weeks after your treatment.

What is the typical duration of Fraxel Laser sessions, and how long do the results last?

For a full facial treatment, the session usually lasts around 20-25 minutes. Results can vary from patient to patient and can depend on how many Fraxel Laser sessions you have had before and what your skin care regimen is.

Can Fraxel Laser be used on all skin types or are there limitations based on skin tone?

Fraxel Laser is safe for all skin types and skin tones.

Are there any potential side effects or risks associated with Fraxel Laser and how rare are they?

Fraxel Laser has a very low complication rate. Some possible, but rare, side effects and risks can include scarring, infection, and irregular pigmentation.

Is there a recommended age range for individuals considering Fraxel Laser treatments?

There is no best or correct age for when an individual should have Fraxel Laser treatments as it all depends on the individual's skin concerns. This treatment is most often used by patients in their 30s or older to address signs of aging.

Can Fraxel Laser be combined with other cosmetic procedures for enhanced results?

Fraxel Laser can be combined with other cosmetic procedures like an IPL Photofacial to address redness and broken capillaries, or cosmetic injectables like Botox and Juvéderm.
